Equity from the Start Brief

Created as part of my work with the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families & Communities · 2024

Brand + Design + Digital · Data Visualization + Storytelling

Equity from the Start is a 15-page research brief produced for the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families & Communities, designed to communicate complex early childhood health research to funders, policymakers, and partners in the US and internationally. Highlighting the work from the Data Informed Futures team, the outlines how staff and faculty at the Center partner with communities to adopt and implement the Whole Child Equity Measurement and Learning System.

My colleagues wrote the copy and highlighted accomplishments over the past 25+ years of work. Using our brand guide, I developed the overall visual concept and design direction, built the full layout in Adobe InDesign, designing data visualizations and charts that made neighborhood-level equity data legible and compelling, and curating photography that reflected the communities the research was about.

My contributions Overall visual concept and art direction, Layout and production in Adobe InDesign, Data visualization and chart design, Photography curation and image selection
